KFC forced to use environmentally friendly packaging

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - NGO Greenpeace action campaign urging fast-food restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Indonesia in order to use environmentally friendly packaging paper manufacturers who care about the environment.


"We urge KFC to switch to use environmentally friendly packaging. We still find they are still using paper products that are not environmentally friendly such as the product French Fries" said Greenpeace Indonesia forest campaigner Yuyun Indradi at KFC Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.

Greenpeace is calling on KFC soon decided to contract with a company that became a national paper manufacturer packaging paper supplier because KFC allegedly contain MTH (Mixed Tropical Hardwood or mixed tropical timber).

Greenpeace forest exploitation rate for the paper can damage the habitat of the endangered Sumatran tiger.

"If left unchecked it will run out of Indonesia's forests, especially in the area of ​​Riau, Jambi and South Sumatra. Forest habitat important for the tiger," he said.
